Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Minden Township for James “Jim” R. Neumann, age 41, who passed away Nov. 27, 2022, unexpectedly. The Rev. Michael Wolfbauer will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Roy enjoyed visits to the casino, camping, fishing, gardening, woodworking and tinkering. He was a member of the DFL Party, a strong union activist and pushed hard for workers’ rights. After retirement, he took an interest in genealogy which sought many new acquaintances of family and new relatives and friends in many areas of the country. Mass of Christian Burial was July 14 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake for Thomas V. Surma, age 94, who passed away July 8, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

He is survived by his mother Patricia Reignier, brothers Bruce Reignier of Pendleton, South Carolina and Daniel Reignier of Buffalo New York, and many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was born April 26, 1929, in Sauk Rapids to John and Alice Peschl. She married Donald Mendel Oct. 4, 1952, in Popple Creek. Rosemary lived in Sauk Rapids her entire life and worked as a bookkeeper for Dairyland and Don Hylander, CPA. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was very active on the church council and was a former treasurer. She was also a member of Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 Auxiliary.

In 1948, she met Mathias “Math” Mimbach at the Fairgrounds Ballroom. On Sept. 14, 1949, they were married at St. Mary’s Cathedral where Katie had been baptized and confirmed years before. To this marriage, two sons were born, Mark and Mike. Sadly, Ambrose F. Gerads Sr. , born in Holdingford, Minnesota passed away. Anna Mae was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Fred and Rose Miller. She married John Tiemann July 21, 1951, in Anamosa, Iowa.

Sandy enjoyed playing cards, reading, being outdoors and spending time on the lake at the cabin up north. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a mentor to all children. Ron was born March 8, 1951, in Jacobs Prairie to Raymond and Evelyn Schmitz. He graduated from Rocori High School and married Dianne Peltz Sept. 7, 1974, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. They lived most of their married life in the Sauk Rapids area. Ron owned and operated Ron’s Cabinets with his wife, Dianne for 23 years, retiring in 1997.

Bob loved to fish and hunt and spent time with friends and family, doing many outdoor activities throughout his life. He went spearfishing at Lake Winnibigoshish just about every year.He also spent just about every opening fishing weekend on one of the many lakes in central Minnesota in the Swanville and Upsala area. He also liked to take trips to the Kenora, Ontario, area many times over the years. He was always searching for the best walleye spots as that was what he looked forward to while his kids would cast the shores for the northern pike that were more exciting to them.

Sharing 66 years with Math, they enjoyed winters in Arizona, spear fishing on Lake Winnibigoshish, flower and vegetable gardening, and coffee and wine time with friends and neighbors. Geri passed away in 1993, after which he met and married the second love of his life, Dorothy Kloster, on March 2, 1996. Tom enjoyed tractors, guns, hunting, playing guitar and, most of all, spending time with his family. Tom will be remembered for his great sense of humor, strong faith, kindness and dedication to his family. Larry was born March 11, 1949, in St. Cloud to Lawrence and Philomenia “Philly” Hennessy.

They were small dairy farmers 10 miles from St. Cloud, and it was where Sharon developed her love for animals and country living. Tara is survived by her parents, Peter and Patricia of Sauk Rapids; brother, Seth of St. Anthony; and nephews, Chandler and Jayden. The family would like to thank CentraCare Hospice and CentraCare Plaza for the excellent care given to Bill. Art’s family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992, 901 N. Arthur DeLong, a proud, independent, hard-working father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully Oct. 26, 2022, in Sartell after a brief illness.

The Rev.Brady Finnern will officiate and burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Bonnie Jean Popp, age 70, Rice, passed away at her home July 10, 2022, after a short battle with Parkinson’s disease. Bonnie, the daughter of Lester Volkl and Dorothy Pappenfus, was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Brainerd. Bonnie was known for her witty humor and being a top notch second basewoman in addition to her love of sunflowers, almond M&M’s, dogs, Panama City Beach, Florida, and her family. Bonnie enjoyed working at the St. Cloud Hospital prior to retirement.

After that they built a home on 6 acres of land that Bob’s father had given them as a wedding gift. Bob was born and raised on a farm with his family, so after he built his own home, he rented land and farmed for many years besides his full-time job at the paper mill. On Nov. 15, 2022, Russell Ray Reignier was escorted into the arms of Jesus by his guardian angel, who often visited and comforted him in times of distress. Awaiting his heavenly arrival were his father and brother who left us all too early. Russ was born Oct. 9, 1956, in St. Paul to the late Rev. Richard J. Reignier and Patricia Ann Reignier and was the second oldest of four boys. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the St. Cloud Hospital intensive care unit and to Quiet Oaks Hospice House for the kind and compassionate care that was given to Donna.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and best friend, Bob; mother-in-law, Delores; and sister-in-law, Michele. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Sue in 2013; maternal grandparents, Ben and Alice Middendorf; paternal grandfather, Robert Neumann; paternal step-grandfather, David Schutte; and dog, Molly. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Norbert; sons-in-law, Douglas Butkowski and Jeffrey Keehr; sisters, Olivia Bauer, Viola Maurer, Loretta Brown, Adeline Baker, and Bernice Hofstater; and brothers, Ervin, Hilbert, and Lester Bauer. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Robinson; son, Peter Jay Robinson; grandson, Troy Robinson; and half-brother and half-sisters, Charles Lantis, Helen Hagle, Bernice Widen and Betty Patrias. Rita Mae Fischer FSPA, Margie Kersting, Eugene Fischer, Mary Terwey, Mark Fischer; siblings-in-law Chuck Ernst, Dennis Ernst, Jerry Ernst, Cathy Huberty; and many nieces and nephews.

He grew up in St. Cloud and attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Cathedral High School, graduating in 1949. He attended St. John’s University in Collegeville for two years, which is how he met the love of his life, Irene Mary Ernst, sister of his university friend Louis. Jim began working for the Soo Line Railroad in 1952, served in the U.S. Army in Korea for two years and returned to the Soo Line, working in the transportation department at the Soo Line building in downtown Minneapolis for nearly 40 years.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and very supportive of many charitable organizations. Ron was named Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year in 1990. He enjoyed spending time at Lake Minnewaska with his family and friends, snowmobiling, woodworking, deer hunting, playing cards and traveling the world. He especially enjoyed attending the Pulaski polka festival in Wisconwin each year. Ron was gentle, kind, positive, generous and an optimistic man with a great sense of humor. He was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ever have.
